Terms of Use: ReelCamp
Last updated: 23 October 2026
1. Who we are, and what this covers
ReelCamp is made by Dale Morgan Coggan, a sole trader in Queensland, Australia (ABN 76 442 194 772; Queensland 4074, Australia) ("we", "us"). Contact: support@reelcamp.com.au.
These terms cover your use of the ReelCamp app. By downloading or using it, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. Our Privacy Policy is part of these terms.
2. What ReelCamp is
ReelCamp helps you plan fishing and camping trips in Australia: fishing spots, campsites, fishing rules, fish identification, weather, tides, best fishing times, trip plans and your own catch log. It's a fishing and camping app with some safety tips. It is not a safety app, a navigation aid or a source of legal or medical advice.
3. Fishing rules: a guide, not the law
- The size limits, bag limits, closures and protected fish in ReelCamp are written in our own words from the official state and territory sources, with the date we last checked them and a link to the official page.
- Rules change, sometimes at short notice, and there can be local rules we don't show (marine parks, green zones, closures, waterway-specific limits, licence and permit conditions).
- The official rules are the law, not ReelCamp. Before you keep a fish, check the official source. You're responsible for fishing legally, including any licence or permit you need. If you're unsure about a fish, release it.
4. Safety, and your own judgement
- Fishing, boating, four-wheel driving and camping carry real risks: rock fishing, surf, swell, tides, weather, crocodiles, stingers, dangerous animals, remote places and no phone signal. You're responsible for your own safety and the safety of the people with you, including children, who always need an adult watching near water.
- ReelCamp's safety tips are general, not advice for your situation. Always check the Bureau of Meteorology's warnings and local conditions before you go, and follow the law on safety equipment (for example life jackets and EPIRBs).
- "Good for kids" means a place families often visit. It doesn't mean safe.
- ReelCamp gives no medical advice. Where it says a fish has venomous spines or isn't safe to eat, that's a fact from an official source with a link, not first aid or diet advice. Never eat a fish because of anything in the app. In an emergency, call 000. Poisons Information Centre: 13 11 26 (24 hours).
- ReelCamp has no emergency or SOS feature, and can't call for help for you.
5. Forecasts and estimates
- Weather, tides and swell come from WillyWeather, including Bureau of Meteorology data. They're forecasts and can be wrong. Where there's no signal, the app shows the last saved forecast with the time it was saved, which may be out of date. Swell forecasts come from an international wave model.
- The best fishing time, best day and best spot are ReelCamp's estimates from real data (tides, weather, sun and moon). They're not a promise of fish. Better odds. The rest is fishing.
- Fish ID helps you narrow down a fish. It can be wrong, and it's not proof of a species for the rules.
- The compass is a guide only. Don't use it to find your way in the bush or at sea.
- Spots, campsites and shops: access, fees, facilities, dog rules, opening hours and closures change. Check with the park, council or business before you go. A spot in ReelCamp doesn't mean you're allowed on the land or water to reach it.
6. Your data is on your phone
ReelCamp keeps your catches, photos, trips, secret locations and settings on your phone. We don't hold them and can't recover them. If you delete the app, use Delete all my data on this phone, or lose or reset your phone, they're gone, unless they're in your own iPhone backup. See the Privacy Policy.
7. Your licence to use ReelCamp
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use ReelCamp on Apple devices you own or control, as the App Store's rules allow (including Family Sharing).
You must not copy, modify, sell or rent the app; copy its spot, campsite, fish or rules information in bulk for another product; reverse-engineer it except where the law allows; or use it to break the law.
We own ReelCamp: its code, design, words, maps and drawings. Photos and information from others are used under their own licences and credited in the app (Me → Data sources).
8. Free and Premium
Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (section 11).
9. Other services
ReelCamp uses Apple Maps, WillyWeather and our own weather server, and links to official websites and businesses. Those services and sites have their own terms. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content. Your mobile or internet provider's charges apply to the data ReelCamp uses.

11. Australian Consumer Law: what we can't exclude
Our goods and services come with guarantees that can't be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms tries to exclude them. For a major failure you're entitled to a replacement or refund, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If a failure isn't major, you're entitled to have it fixed.
Subject to those guarantees, and as far as the law allows:
- ReelCamp is provided "as is". We don't promise it will always work, be error-free or be up to date, or that you'll catch fish.
- We're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by relying on the app instead of official information, warnings or your own judgement.
- Where we can limit our liability but not exclude it, it's limited to supplying the app again or paying for it to be supplied again.
12. Who can use ReelCamp
Anyone can use ReelCamp, but it's made for adults. Children should use it with an adult.
13. Changes, and ending this agreement
We may update these terms; the date at the top changes when we do, and we'll say so in the app's update notes when it matters. You can stop using ReelCamp any time by deleting it. We may end your licence if you seriously break these terms.
14. Apple's required terms
You and we agree that:
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for ReelCamp and its content.
- Your licence is limited to using ReelCamp on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as the App Store's Usage Rules allow (including Family Sharing).
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for ReelCamp.
- If ReelCamp fails to meet a warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). As far as the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for ReelCamp, and any other claims, losses or costs from a failure to meet a warranty are our responsibility.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims about ReelCamp from you or anyone else, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- If anyone claims ReelCamp or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and resolving the claim.
- You confirm you're not in a country under a US Government embargo or named as a "terrorist supporting" country, and you're not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You'll follow any third-party terms that apply when you use ReelCamp (for example your mobile data plan).
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and once you accept them, Apple can enforce them against you.
Questions, complaints or claims about ReelCamp go to us: Dale Morgan Coggan, Queensland 4074, Australia, support@reelcamp.com.au.
15. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If you live outside Australia, you keep any rights your own country's consumer laws give you that can't be taken away.
